Aimee Thieu is a self-taught artist living and creating in Los Angeles, California. Her work—the result of intricately manipulated and layered hand-cut paper/various materials—often serves as a visual and ornate representation of the relationship between structure and fluidity.

In her three-dimensional paper works, Thieu mixes geometric, rigid lines and shapes with more organic, dream-like, liquid-inspired forms and textures in order to create a correlation between the two worlds. Much of the inspiration for her work comes from her fascination with in the ocean, architectural design, unique textiles, space and light, traditional origami folds, and anomalies in nature.
